Greetings from somewhere in the beautiful concrete ghettoes of Sofia!!

I’m an author, editor, biographer and content creator who’s travelled around a great deal but who has spent most of the last decade in Bulgaria. I have worked as a journalist in Lisbon and Sofia and probably written enough articles to – at least in the old days – paper the walls of the Bairro Alto or Slaveykov Square.

This new website aims to be a mix of artistic commentary and reviews and interviews together with profiles of entertainers, writers and those with pivotal roles in Bulgarian society or simply those whose predicaments render them interesting. Those organisations that seek to drag Bulgaria kicking and screaming into 2018 are always fasinating to me, especially if they irritate the government or challenge the generally held view.

The website will gradually evolve – and may well drift into some unpredictable areas – but it will not cover hard news or politics per se or, if it does, it will only be incidental. I’m particularly interested in exploring the work and views of actors, writers, musicians and directors as well as ordinary people who are trying to make a difference to other people’s lives.

If you have some interesting stories, or ideas for illuminating interviewees, please don’t hesitate to contact me at

You can also visit my personal website where I promote my books – three biographies of British actors so far.
